At Casia Robinson, Building Information Modelling (BIM) has always been more than just a service, it’s the foundation of how we approach projects. From our beginnings as a CAD and BIM company to our growth into a full architecture and interior design studio, precision and coordination remain at the heart of everything we do.
One of the projects that best reflects this ethos is our partnership with I&S Group, who appointed us as the BIM designer for the landmark LSE Marshall Building. The LSE Marshall Building stands as one of the most ambitious projects undertaken by the London School of Economics, with an overall construction value of £145 million. A building of this scale demands precision, coordination, and seamless execution at every level.
The Marshall Building: A Landmark Project
The Marshall Building is one of the London School of Economics’ most significant developments in recent years, designed to be a hub for teaching, learning, and student life. Its overall construction cost reflects its scale, complexity, and importance to the LSE campus.
As part of this wider development, I&S Group managed a scope of work valued at £6.5 million, covering dry lining, ceilings, fire barriers, façade infill, and lightweight steel framing. Our BIM expertise played a vital role in supporting their scope and ensuring the wider project was delivered with precision and efficiency.
Our Role as BIM Designer
Partnering with I&S Group, Casia Robinson was responsible for providing detailed BIM support throughout the project. Our role included:
- Developing a fully integrated BIM model to guide design and construction
- Enabling early conflict prevention to keep architectural, structural, and MEP systems aligned
- Supporting clear communication and coordination across project teams
- Maintaining a centralised source of information to keep the project on track from start to finish
Through this approach, BIM became more than a digital tool, it was the bridge between design and execution, reducing risks, saving time, and ensuring accuracy on site. Our collaboration with I&S Group demonstrates how BIM brings real value to complex projects. For us at Casia Robinson, being trusted as a BIM designer for such a prestigious project is both a milestone and a reminder of our roots.
Casia Robinson started with CAD and BIM services. While we have since grown into a global design studio, our BIM expertise remains central to our work. The LSE Marshall Building is a perfect example of how this expertise continues to shape high-profile projects, reinforcing our commitment to smart, sustainable, and coordinated design.
